Wine regions in South Africa

The Cape region is famous for its fine wines. Nestled in a picturesque landscape, there are several hundred wine estates of various sizes within a 1-2 hour drive of Cape Town. The first wineries are just 15 minutes away in the hinterland of Sunset Beach. Each winery offers wine tastings. It is advisable to combine a day trip to certain sights with a visit to a winery, taste wine there (often the tasting fee is waived when purchasing wines.) and have lunch there. There are also guided wine tours by bus, which has the advantage that no one has to drive themselves.

Music in Cape Town

There are numerous music events in the center of Cape Town, from classical music to international rock and pop music to South African performers. There are often open-air events, such as in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where concerts are held every Sunday afternoon. There you can sit on the lawn with a picnic basket and listen to South African rock or pop music.

Museums in Cape Town

The oldest museum in Africa, the South African Museum, is located in the Company Garden. Other museums you can visit in Cape Town are the Gold of Africa Museum, the Military Museum, the Sotz African Gallery, the Bertram Hose, the Cape Medical Museum and the Maritime Museum. Other places of interest:

The most popular Cape Town sights are Table Mountain and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The famous Victorian harbor with its boutiques, restaurants and museums is a crowd puller every year. Other Cape Town attractions include the Castle of Good Hope, South Africa’s oldest building, and Robben Island. At Green Market Square you will find artistic handicrafts such as wooden masks, bowls, chess sets and wooden giraffes. They are as much a part of the cityscape as Table Mountain.

The building styles of the houses from the different time zones should also be counted among the Cape Town sights. Cape Dutch architecture, the old town houses and the popular Victorian style with Art Deco ornaments will also make your visit to Cape Town a fascinating experience.

A visit to the Artscape Opera House and Baxter House in Cape Town is also an absolute experience.
